Affectionately referred to as the ‘Pearl of the Indian Ocean’, Sri Lanka is renowned the world over for, both, the beauty and diversity of its natural landscapes. The greenery on our island remains abundant and is in pristine condition due to numerous efforts at preservation. Furthermore, we are blessed with an optimal blend of ideal climatic conditions coupled with rich, fertile soil. This allows us to produce a wide range of tropical Fruits and Vegetables, which are nutritious, rich in taste and have a longer shelf-life. Sri Lanka is one of, only, a handful of places across the world where you can find each of these three qualities present in every single variety of produce, naturally.
Global Trading Company was founded in April 2006 by Mr. Mohamed Rifaz who, at the time, had over a decade of experience in parallel industries. Initially formed as a proprietorship company, a couple of years later, in January 2008, it became a Limited Liability Company. The name of the entity was changed to “Global Trading & Marketing (Pvt) Limited” (GTM), thereafter. The company is registered in Colombo, the commercial capital of Sri Lanka and it operates with a modern office, warehouse and factory, as well as a cold-room facility. GTM is registered under the Sri Lanka Export Development Board (SLEDB) and has, also, been a member of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce (CCC) and the Coconut Development Authority (CDA) since its inception.
The company has around 150 acres of agricultural farmland spread across three different locations in Sri Lanka. The farms are equipped with the latest technology in order to cultivate a wide range of tropical Fruits and Vegetables meant for export. The main export varieties of produce are grown in these farms, and they supplement our overall supply chain.
The company commenced operations with the export of Fresh Coconuts. Later, it expanded its product range to include Fresh Fruits and Fresh Vegetables as well. The company exports its produce mainly to the Middle Eastern markets where it has garnered a name for its premium quality produce under the brand name ‘GTM’. The company has partnered with a healthy, reliable chain of customers who are well established and have been in the market for many decades. GTM, soon after its inception, became one of the fastest growing produce exporters in Sri Lanka. Within just a couple of years, the company was named as one of the leading exporters of Sri Lankan Produce.

Global Trading & Marketing (Pvt) Limited (GTM) was established in 2006 with the primary objective of exporting premium quality Sri Lankan produce. Our main goal in this venture has, always, been to ensure the happiness of the customers by "satisfying them beyond their expectations". I strongly believe — as the Chairman and the founder of the company — that the quality of the produce should, under no circumstances, be compromised. This has, always, been the driving force of our business. Although we operated at a very small scale during its inception, with the blessings of the Almighty, the support from our loyal customers, and the hard work of our highly experienced and dedicated team of staff, the company was propelled to greater heights of success. This allowed us to become one of the leading exporters of Sri Lankan produce within a short span of time.
We value and appreciate our customers by providing the highest quality of produce while displaying top notch standards of service. In order to achieve this end, we also receive the support of numerous airlines, shipping companies, packaging material suppliers, and produce suppliers, among a list of others we partner with. Above all, the major portion of the credit ought to go to our team of staff. They are extremely efficient, dedicated, and they each have over a decade of experience in the fields of trading, agriculture, customer care, etc.
